I’ve been using Skype on linux as a VoIP solution, and it’s been having all sorts of weird problems. Droupouts, loud staticy noises in the background, yuk. Since I work from home a lot, and only have a cell (no landline) it’s pretty essential that I can talk point to point (for free) — we do a lot of discussion, design, planning — things which would eat up cell minutes and probably get me cancer at the same time.
I finally stumbled across RAT, the Robust Audio Tool, and after some tweaking, it’s great.
